The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has dismissed Dr. Adam Atiku as the Chief Executive Officer of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) with immediate effect. This decision follows allegations of negligence linked to a recent patient death at the hospital's Accident and Emergency Ward.

The dismissal comes amid growing concerns over the hospital's deteriorating healthcare delivery. Several essential medical machines are reportedly non-functional, despite payments having been made to suppliers. During a visit to the hospital, Minister Akandoh expressed serious concern over the idle equipment and highlighted the impact of Tamale's ongoing water crisis on hospital operations.

Akandoh described the water crisis as a regional issue requiring urgent presidential intervention. Regarding plans to resolve the hospital's equipment challenges, the minister emphasized a collaborative approach, stating that any actions taken would be guided by the priorities set by the hospital's management.
