Haruna Mohammed, Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has issued a stern warning to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
According to Mohammed, if the NDC fails to reinstate workers sacked by President John Dramani Mahama, the NPP will take drastic action. He stated that if the NPP regains power in 2028, they will dismiss all workers employed by the current administration.
Mohammed emphasized that President Mahama's decision to dismiss workers recruited under the previous NPP government is contradictory to the NDC's claims of creating jobs. He argued that dismantling existing opportunities is not a viable way to create new ones.
"The President cannot claim to be creating jobs while dismissing existing workers," Mohammed said. "We urge the NDC to reinstate the sacked workers to maintain stability in the workforce."
The NPP Deputy General Secretary's warning comes after President Mahama dismissed all last-minute appointees recruited by the previous NPP government. This decision was made citing non-compliance with good governance practices.
PRIOR:
In a letter issued on February 10, 2025, the presidency directed all heads of government institutions to revoke appointments and recruitments made after December 7, 2024. The letter stated that these appointments and recruitments did not comply with established good governance practices and principles.
